3 Tips for Writing a Great Blog Post

I recently wrote about 'how to write a great blog post'  because I know that writing a blog post isn't the easiest thing to do....   it not only has to convey your ideas, it has to be interesting enough for people to read the whole thing. The post mentioned covers 3 main areas of focus for writing a post that will not only get you traffic, but links, and sales as well.

Here they are in brief:

1. Write catchy titles.

The best way to get your blog post read is to create a very catchy title (or headline).  A perfect example of this is headlines on magazine covers your see on the stand... "7 ways to lose weight now!", "15 Quick Organizational Tips", "How I Built a Garage in a Weekend", and more...   the titles MAKES you want to read the article, aw well as tells you what the article is about.

2. Keep your writing simple.

Yes, this is important.  Don't ramble on.  Don't be too technical. Speak on the level of someone who doesn't know what you're talking about.  Be detailed, but only by giving necessary facts, not by describing every last  little detail.  Get your point across, quickly.

3. Inform, Educate, Entertain or Empower

Don't write about your cat, your day, the weather or what you send to your next-door neighbor last night over the fence... UNLESS that is what your blog is about. Otherwise, people are at your blog to LEARN, or BE ENTERTAINED. Do both and you're gold.

Oh, and... GET LINKS

You can write the best blog post in the world, but unless you got some link love comin' to ya baby, you ain't nothin! How will people find you?  Without the benefits of links the search engines don't like you, no-one knows where you are, and there's no path to YOU.

Yes, so go out start commenting on other blogs, get noticed. Submit to directories. Write guest posts. Beg. Pay. Build networks of sites. But (read this post ->) GET LINKS.
