Dancing Can Keep You Healthy?

For a long period of time, and even sometimes today dance is referred to as an art form. If you are in a crowded room you can almost always pinpoint a dancer in the crowd by just their body type. A dancers body is always fit, a ballet dancer will have perfect posture. And because of this it’s not a secret that dancing will keep your body fit.

But there is something about dancing that you may not even be aware of. Dancing can actually have a positive affect on your health.

So dancing is not just a way for you to unwind on a Friday or Saturday night after a long week of work. What you are actually doing is extremely beneficial to your health.

There has be actual research done and just look at the results, dancing just socially will help to reduce stress, increase your energy, improve strength and even increase your coordination and muscle tone. This is just the obvious things that you can feel while dancing. When you are on the dance floor all of your worries just seem to melt away, and it’s as if you have the ability to dance till you drop. The music just takes over your entire body and mind, it’s great. This is the reason that there are so many dance clubs around, people love to dance. The funny part is that they are not even aware of the amazing affects it has on their health.

Let’s take a look at what The National Heart, Lung and Blood (NHLBI) Institute has said. Dancing will lower your risk of coronary heart disease, decrease blood pressure, strengthen the bones in your legs and hips. Imagine getting all these health benefits from doing something that you actually enjoy doing.

The great thing about dancing is that anyone can do it, you don’t have to be flexible or be in shape. This will come with the territory of taking dance lessons.

There are so many different types of dance lessons that you can take. I am sure if you drove around your neighborhood you would find at least a half dozen schools right in your area.

Let’s take a look at the different types of dance styles – belly dancing, salsa, swing dancing, ballroom dancing, square dancing, ballet, aerobic and hip hop.

Each of these types of dance styles will offer you different kinds of health benefits to keep your body healthy and fit. Some of them are going to be more strenuous than other’s so it’s important to choose the right form for you, and your level of skill.

If you are looking to shed some of those unwanted pounds that you should look into aerobic dancing and salsa dancing. They will both offer you the aid to lose weight, because of it will promote the release of harmful toxins that are in your body, this occurs from sweating. Salsa dancing is so much fun. Aerobic dancing will burn off the most calories, and is one of the best for losing weight. But it does take time to get the coordination down.

If you are looking to simply increase the muscle in your body then you have many dancing styles to choose from. But different styles will focus on different areas of your body, most dancing will help to give you upper body strength. But it doesn’t stop there. Ballroom dancing will work the muscles in the back of your thighs and your buttocks. Belly dancing will tone and firm your arms and shoulders and even improve your posture.

No matter which style of dancing you choose to begin your lessons in you will be promoting a healthier living for yourself, and you will be looking good in a very short time. Before you take any type of dance lesson’s you should talk to your doctor and find out if there is any kind of restrictions on your work out.
